Taos Housing Partnership provides office space to Dream Tree for housing support

The Taos County Board of Commission held a regular meeting on April 15, 2025, where several key topics were discussed, including updates from the Taos Housing Partnership and the Senior Program.

The meeting began with a presentation from the Taos Housing Partnership, highlighting their recent achievements. The organization has secured office space at Centennial Plaza and is providing free office space to Dream Tree, which will facilitate housing support services. The partnership has a dedicated team of 15 members, despite currently operating with only 1.5 staff members. They reported successful homebuyer education classes, averaging 15 to 20 participants per session, with a total of 50 individuals having completed the course.

Additionally, the Taos Housing Partnership is launching a seven-month speaker series, with the first session scheduled for the following day. The series aims to bring in experts from across the state to discuss various topics related to housing and community support.

The meeting also addressed concerns raised by residents of Mariposa Apartments regarding ongoing challenges. The Taos Housing Partnership is actively working to address these issues by coordinating with state organizations and local representatives.

Following the housing updates, the commissioners moved on to administrative matters, approving minutes from previous meetings held on March 27, April 1, and April 7, 2025, with unanimous votes.

The meeting concluded with a presentation from the Taos County Senior Program, led by Director Don Romero and Grants Administrator Shawna Mares Bond. They reported positive outcomes from a recent assessment by the non-metro Area Agency on Aging, noting only minor findings that were promptly resolved.
