Bay Oaks Park upgrades begin with new facilities and equipment installation

The Town Council of Fort Myers Beach is making significant strides in enhancing community facilities, with several projects underway at Bay Oaks Recreation Center. The council reported that construction is progressing on schedule, with the completion of essential renovations expected by May 2025.

This week, work began on sealing the facility to prevent any potential leaks, followed by electrical installations next week. The final touches, including epoxy painting and the installation of plumbing and lighting fixtures, are set to occur shortly thereafter. Safety measures are also being prioritized, with new emergency signage installed around the courts to guide users in case of an incident. This initiative follows reports of injuries on the courts, underscoring the council's commitment to community safety.

Lastly, the council is finalizing the procurement of new strength and cardio fitness equipment, aiming to have it ready for the center's reopening. With tariffs on imported goods looming, the council is acting swiftly to secure the necessary equipment before potential price increases.
