Eden Prairie Police Chief reviews 2024 statistics and community safety initiatives

Eden Prairie's police department is set to enhance community safety and service following a comprehensive review of its 2024 operations presented at the City Council meeting on April 15, 2025. Police Chief highlighted key statistics and initiatives that reflect the department's commitment to public safety and community engagement.

In 2024, the Eden Prairie police responded to over 45,800 calls for service, marking a slight increase from the previous year. Traffic safety remains a top priority, with officers conducting more than 13,000 traffic stops and making 216 DWI arrests. Notably, Officer Chad Scribe was recognized for his outstanding DWI enforcement, achieving the third highest number of arrests in Minnesota.

The department is also addressing mental health needs in the community, with 467 referrals to social workers and an increase in crisis calls. A new grant will soon allow the hiring of a second social worker, enhancing support for individuals in crisis. A building remodel is underway, and the introduction of a crisis negotiations van will improve response capabilities during high-risk incidents.
