The Carpinteria Summerland Fire Protection District held its regular board meeting on May 1, 2024, where key discussions included commendations for personnel and updates on recent emergency responses.
During the meeting, the board recognized two members of the fire district for their five years of dedicated service. Firefighter Paramedic Mark Blattler and Fire Captain Brian Bull were both honored with resolutions acknowledging their contributions to the community. Although neither was present due to duty calls, the board expressed gratitude for their commitment and noted that they would receive official copies of the resolutions and service pins.
In addition to personnel recognitions, the board addressed correspondence from the Montecito Fire Protection District, which expressed appreciation for the assistance provided during a recent storm on March 30. The Carpinteria Summerland Fire District dispatched two engines to help Montecito, which faced over 70 emergency calls due to severe flooding. Notably, the crew from Engine 62 played a critical role in rescuing an individual trapped in a vehicle submerged in floodwaters, showcasing the effectiveness and bravery of the district's personnel.
The meeting concluded without public comments, and the board emphasized the importance of community service and collaboration with neighboring fire districts. The next steps for the Carpinteria Summerland Fire Protection District include continuing to support local emergency responses and recognizing the hard work of its firefighters.
