Lynwood CEO Jennings discusses teacher salaries and retention rates

During the recent School Innovation and Turnaround Committee Meeting held by the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) on April 8, 2025, significant discussions centered around teacher and student retention rates at Lynwood School.

Mister Jennings, the CEO of Lynwood, provided insights into the school's operational structure, confirming the presence of three principals and a chief academic officer. He reported that the average teacher salary at Lynwood is approximately $56,000, which contrasts sharply with the average teacher salary across Louisiana, reported at $81,000 by another representative.

The meeting also highlighted Lynwood's teacher retention rate, which stands at around 80%. This figure indicates that approximately 20% of teachers leave the school each year. Jennings noted that Lynwood employs about 47 certified teachers, alongside 22 non-certified teachers.

In terms of student retention, Lynwood boasts a commendable rate of 92% from kindergarten through seventh grade, with students typically leaving the school at the end of eighth grade.
