City official warns Bullhead City residents about sewer disposal practices

During the recent Parks and Recreation Commission meeting in Bullhead City, key discussions highlighted the importance of proper waste disposal and the community's recreational offerings.

John Trequato from the city's wastewater division emphasized the critical need for residents to adhere to proper disposal guidelines. He outlined that only three items should be flushed down the sewer: human waste, toilet paper, and gray water. Trequato warned against flushing any non-biodegradable items, such as wipes, paper towels, and plastic products, which can lead to significant sewer backups. He illustrated the issue by showing the contents of a drying bed, revealing a troubling mix of items that should never enter the sewer system. This mismanagement not only causes environmental concerns but also incurs substantial costs for taxpayers, with repairs and maintenance running into thousands of dollars.

In addition to waste management, the meeting showcased Rotary Park as a vital community resource. Located at 2315 Balboa Drive, the park features extensive facilities, including six softball fields, a baseball field, a football field, and eight lighted pickleball courts, among others. With over 300 acres dedicated to outdoor sports, Rotary Park serves as Bullhead City's premier destination for recreational activities, accommodating a wide range of sports and community events.

The discussions at the meeting underscored the dual focus on environmental responsibility and community engagement through recreational opportunities. As Bullhead City continues to grow, the need for effective waste management and accessible public spaces remains paramount for the well-being of its residents.
