The Magnolia Independent School District (MISD) Board convened on April 14, 2025, to discuss revisions to the attendance zones for Williams Elementary and Audubon Elementary schools. The meeting focused on the impact of new residential developments in the Audubon subdivision, particularly the Heron Run area, which is expected to add a significant number of homes in the coming years.
The presentation highlighted that Heron Run, which is currently zoned to Williams Elementary, will be shifted to the Audubon Elementary zone. This change is proposed to accommodate the anticipated growth in student enrollment as new homes are constructed. The Heron Run development is projected to include 1,424 home sites, with the first phase of construction expected to begin in 2025 and continue into early 2026.

This adjustment aims to keep neighborhoods together in the same school, a standard practice for MISD.
The board reviewed maps illustrating the current attendance zones, noting that the proposed change would not overwhelm Audubon Elementary's capacity. Williams Elementary, which serves about 820 students, is one of the largest elementary schools in the district. The board members expressed support for the proposed revision, recognizing it as a logical step in response to the growing community.
The board is expected to vote on the attendance zone revision for the 2025-2026 school year in the near future, ensuring that the district can effectively manage student enrollment as new developments come online.
