Community enjoys new bench swings and updated Jackie Cooper gym facilities

The recent Park Board meeting in Yukon, Oklahoma, highlighted several key developments in local recreational facilities, reflecting the city's commitment to enhancing community spaces.

One of the most notable updates was the installation of bench swings at Hillcrest Park, which were set up on April 8. After addressing initial safety concerns, the swings are now operational and have begun to attract visitors. Observations indicate increased activity around the tetherball poles, suggesting that the park is becoming a popular spot for community engagement.

Additionally, significant renovations are underway at the Jackie Cooper Gym. The program room has received a complete makeover, featuring new flooring and soundproofing materials that enhance both aesthetics and functionality. This space is now equipped for eSports activities, including tournaments and open play, while also serving as a venue for birthday parties and various community programs. The relocation of the front desk to the lobby has streamlined operations, allowing staff to better serve the public.

The meeting also addressed ongoing improvements at Kimball Bay Pool. Following last year's successful renovations at City Splash, the pool is undergoing similar upgrades. This year, the walls have been sandblasted to remove old paint, a process aimed at revitalizing the facility. While the gutters were not sandblasted to avoid damage, they have been cleaned to ensure proper maintenance.
