Owatonna leaders celebrate community support during award acceptance

Owatonna Public Schools celebrated its strong community spirit and leadership during the Board Meeting on December 9, 2024. Superintendent Mark Ochterkirk highlighted the unique qualities of Owatonna, emphasizing the support the school district receives from the community. "Owatonna is a very unique and very special community," he stated, urging attendees to recognize the positive aspects often overshadowed by local challenges.

Ochterkirk expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts of staff, coaches, and advisors, noting that any accolades received are a shared achievement. "This is a shared award," he said, reflecting on the teamwork that drives the district's success. His remarks underscored the pride felt by those working within the district, as well as the admiration from neighboring districts.

Mr. Brillstead, another key leader in the district, echoed Ochterkirk's sentiments, praising the extraordinary leadership within Owatonna, particularly in managing special education and extracurricular activities.
