Chandler announces summer programs including fishing derby and cooking classes

Summer fun is on the horizon for Moraine, as the Parks & Recreation Board gears up for an action-packed season filled with exciting programs and events. During the recent meeting on April 15, 2025, officials highlighted a variety of summer offerings designed to engage families and children throughout the community.

Registration for the popular summer camp is already underway, with two kids signed up for each week, signaling strong interest. The lineup includes the return of the "Hook Kids on Fishing" program, culminating in a fishing derby, and a disc golf tournament hosted by Chandler in honor of Shane Miller.

This year, the city is shaking things up with three family fun days featuring Huey and Magoo's chicken instead of the traditional city barbecue. The owner will be on-site to serve food, adding a personal touch to the event. Other highlights include a glow disc golf tournament, a madcap puppet show for kids, and a ladies night cooking class.

The summer festivities will also coincide with the city's 60th anniversary celebration, set for May, promising a memorable occasion for residents. National Night Out is scheduled for August, further enriching the summer calendar.

As the board prepares for these events, they are also encouraging community involvement. Volunteers are needed, and details about signing up will be shared on the city’s website. The next meeting is set for June 17 at 5 PM, where further plans and updates will be discussed.
