Khalid Enterprises proposes new medical office building in North Babylon

The Planning Board of West Babylon convened on April 14, 2025, to discuss a significant proposal that could reshape local healthcare access. Khalid Enterprises Inc. is seeking approval to demolish an existing one-story building at the corner of Poplar Street and Deer Park Avenue to make way for a new two-story medical office building. This facility is designed to provide essential medical services, including internal medicine, podiatry, and cardiology, without surgical procedures.

Joseph Constantino, representing the applicant, outlined the project during the meeting, emphasizing that the new building will cover approximately 4,400 square feet and will comply with all zoning requirements. The proposed structure will feature a basement and meet the height restrictions set for the area. Importantly, the site plan includes 82 parking spaces, which aligns with the needs of the anticipated staff and patients.

The board members engaged in discussions regarding the project, with no objections raised by the applicant concerning the conditions outlined in the planning memo. Concerns about groundwater were noted, but these will be addressed in future discussions. The proposed facility aims to enhance healthcare accessibility for residents, as it will include a pharmacy specifically for patients, although it will not operate as a public pharmacy.
