Deputies investigate firearm incident on Jeffrey Drive and multiple shoplifting cases

The council addressed several notable incidents that occurred in the community over the past month. One alarming event involved a man with an AR-15 rifle who approached a resident's vehicle on Jeffrey Drive, causing fear before leaving the scene. Local deputies responded quickly but were unable to locate the individual, prompting efforts to gather camera footage from nearby surveillance systems.

In a more positive update, law enforcement reported the recovery of a stolen vehicle and the safe return of a missing juvenile found inside it. However, the meeting also highlighted ongoing concerns about vehicle security, as several auto break-ins were reported in the Piccadilly area, all involving unlocked cars. Authorities urged residents to secure their vehicles and avoid leaving valuables inside to deter thieves.

Additionally, the council discussed incidents of shoplifting at local businesses, including Walgreens and Goodwill. In one case, a group of individuals stole over $500 worth of products from Walgreens, while an elderly woman was stopped after attempting to leave Goodwill with a cart full of items. Although charges were not pressed in her case, she received a trespass notice.

Another troubling incident involved a road rage confrontation at a Circle K, where a female driver was threatened with a firearm by a group of men. Fortunately, she complied and no injuries were reported.
