Treasure Island Childcare Center design features 58 spots and community spaces

San Francisco is set to enhance childcare services with the approval of a new childcare center on Treasure Island, designed to accommodate up to 58 children. The facility will feature both indoor and outdoor spaces, strategically located near key transportation hubs, including a ferry terminal and a bus stop just a block away.

The center will be part of a larger development that includes a park and open space known as East Side Gardens. This six-story building will consist of three distinct wings, maximizing natural light and providing a welcoming environment for children and families. The main lobby will face both the street and the park, ensuring easy access for visitors.

Ground floor amenities will include approximately 40 parking spots and a bike room, while the design incorporates direct access from residential units to the gardens. The building will also feature two courtyards: a passive space for relaxation and meditation, and an active area connected to a community room, equipped with seating and outdoor barbecue grills.

Community engagement has been a priority, with two meetings held to gather feedback on the design. The project team has incorporated this input into the final plans, ensuring that the center meets the needs of local families.
