Residents of Treasure Island can look forward to significant improvements in housing and community facilities as the City of San Francisco moves forward with a major development project. During a recent government meeting, officials outlined plans for a new residential building that will include standard mailboxes, parcel lockers, and dedicated bike and limited vehicle parking. The building will also feature a community room and team room on the second floor, designed to serve as central gathering spaces for various events, complete with a kitchen and TV.
The project, which has a total development cost of $177 million, is currently in the planning phase, with a grant application for the Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities program due next month. Construction is expected to begin in late 2026 or early 2027, with completion targeted for late 2028 and nearly full occupancy by April 2029.

These developments aim to provide new homes for current residents of the 1 Treasure Island and Legacy Villages, with a focus on affordable housing options. Notably, the upcoming senior building will offer units priced as low as 20% of the area median income, making it accessible for older residents who may have struggled to qualify for other affordable housing.
In addition to residential units, a behavioral health building is also planned, which will be developed in partnership with HealthRight 360 and the Department of Public Health. This facility will support existing programs on the island, enhancing the overall well-being of the community.
As the project progresses, officials emphasized the importance of community engagement, noting that feedback from recent meetings is being incorporated into the design of communal spaces. Upcoming activities include transition poster sessions and community meetings to keep residents informed and involved in the development process.
With these initiatives, the City of San Francisco is taking significant steps to improve housing conditions and community resources for Treasure Island residents, aiming for a more inclusive and supportive living environment in the coming years.
