The City of Graham is taking significant steps to enhance support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) following the approval of an economic incentive agreement during the November 20, 2024, meeting. The council approved the first reading of resolution number 201, which allocates $82,500 to the Graham Economic Improvement Corporation for the rehabilitation of a facility located at 611 South Street.
This facility is set to become a day habilitation center, providing essential services to IDD individuals in the community. The project is expected to create five full-time jobs, contributing to local employment while addressing a critical need for supportive services.
The funding from the Graham Economic Improvement Corporation complements a previous $25,000 grant from the city to the ARC of Wichita County, which will help operate the facility. Together, these financial commitments will cover approximately half of the remodeling costs necessary to adapt the space for its intended purpose.
This initiative not only aims to improve the quality of life for IDD individuals but also strengthens the community by fostering job creation and economic development. As the project moves forward, it is anticipated to have a lasting positive impact on both the individuals served and the broader Graham community.
