Davis School District updates on major construction projects funded by 2022 bond

The Davis School District held a meeting on April 18, 2025, to provide updates on various construction projects funded by the 2022 bond. Facilities Administrator Weston Weeks and Director of Architectural Services Brian Turner led the discussion, highlighting significant developments across the district.

Weeks introduced the construction of the new Career and Technical Education (CTE) building at Clearfield High School, which aims to consolidate multiple CTE programs, including welding, auto shop, building trades, engineering, culinary arts, and health sciences. This project is expected to be completed by June 2026.

Turner then detailed the progress of three schools set to open in August 2025. Horizon Junior High in West Point is nearing completion, with classroom wings and a shared gymnasium with West Point City almost finished. Sunset Junior High is also progressing well, with classroom wings complete and final touches being made to the interior as the old building prepares for demolition. Bountiful Elementary, the oldest continuously operated school in the district, is being replaced with a new facility on a tight site, also scheduled to open in August 2025.

In addition to these projects, Turner mentioned the construction of a new CTE building at Bountiful High School, a new elementary school in Syracuse, and an addition and remodel at Clinton Elementary. Layton High School is also undergoing renovations to add CTE and performing arts spaces.

The meeting concluded with a note of gratitude to the community for supporting the 2022 bond, which has enabled these significant improvements across the district. The next steps include continuing the design phase for additional projects, including a new gymnasium for Kaysville Junior High and remodels at Bayview and Burton Elementary schools.
