Australia City Council approves Quick Trip convenience store with gas station development

The Goodyear City Council has approved a use permit for a new Quick Trip convenience store with a gas station, set to be developed at the southwest corner of MC 85 and South Australia Parkway. This decision, made during the regular council meeting on April 18, 2025, is expected to enhance local access to fuel and convenience services in an area currently lacking such facilities.

The proposed development will occupy a 5.13-acre portion of a larger 15.19-acre site, which is zoned for general commercial use. The new store will feature a 5,300 square foot convenience store, auto fuel pumps, and semi-truck fueling bays, catering to both regular vehicles and larger trucks. The design includes ample parking, with 49 spots, including accessible and bicycle parking, exceeding the city's requirements.

Justin Gabrielson, the senior planner, presented the project, highlighting its strategic location near industrial areas and the anticipated increase in traffic from nearby developments. The council discussed traffic flow and access points, ensuring that the design minimizes disruptions to surrounding roads. Notably, the site will have three access points, allowing for efficient entry and exit.

The council's approval comes with specific stipulations to prevent the site from becoming a truck stop, limiting services to fuel pumps only and prohibiting overnight truck parking. This decision reflects the council's commitment to maintaining the character of the area while accommodating necessary services for residents and businesses.

In addition to the Quick Trip project, the council discussed future infrastructure improvements, including plans to widen Estrella Parkway and MC 85, which are expected to enhance traffic flow in the area. These developments align with the city's broader goals of improving accessibility and supporting local commerce.
