Scissortail Energy finalizes methane capture project in Enid landfill

The City of Enid, Oklahoma, held a study session on April 15, 2025, focusing on the progress of the Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) project at the local landfill. The meeting provided updates on the construction and operational aspects of the facility, which aims to capture methane gas and convert it into pipeline-quality natural gas.

The session began with a detailed overview of the ongoing construction activities. Officials reported that the installation of the RNG compressor line is nearing completion, which will connect to the existing gas system. Additionally, regulators are being installed to manage the transmission pressure for the gas used in various operations, including a thermal oxidizer and flare pilot.

Visual presentations highlighted the facility's layout, including the instrument air plant and flare assembly. The flare is designed to incinerate excess methane and other gases, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. The project is also equipped with advanced electrical systems, with a substantial 2,000 amp service to support the facility's operations.
