Ben Lomond High School celebrates students of the month at April board meeting

The Ogden City School District celebrated student achievements during its Board of Education meeting on April 17, 2025, highlighting the importance of recognizing hard work and dedication among students and staff.

The meeting opened with a traditional acknowledgment of the land, recognizing the Great Salt Lake Fremont, Northern Shoshone, and Goshute tribes, setting a respectful tone for the gathering. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the "Student of the Month" awards, a new tradition aimed at honoring outstanding students.

Ben Lomond High School's administration intern, Ben Hamblin, introduced Lola Barkama as a deserving recipient of the award. Hamblin praised Lola for her resilience and hard work, particularly in overcoming challenges in her academic journey and excelling in cross country and track. Lola expressed her gratitude, emphasizing the significant impact that supportive teachers like Hamblin have had on her education and personal growth.

The meeting also featured Victor Glindo, a school counselor at Ben Lomond, who contributed to the celebration of student achievements, reinforcing the community's commitment to fostering a supportive educational environment.
