The Wichita Falls Independent School District (WFISD) Board Meeting on April 14, 2025, celebrated the achievements of local students and educators, highlighting their accomplishments in swimming and technical education.
The meeting began with a tribute to the Memorial High School swim team, where Coach Zahl was recognized as the Texas Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association's 4A Coach of the Year. This year, 21 students participated in state competitions in various technical fields, with two students earning medals. Carson Corral, a plumbing district champion, and Haysen Garrido, who placed third in principles of engineering technology, were among those honored for their accomplishments.
The meeting also featured the Texas Public Safety Association, marking the first year WFISD participated in this organization. Students Leo Ryerson, Lindsay Rodriguez, and Deana Garcia showcased their skills in crime scene investigation, achieving notable success at the state level.
Overall, the meeting underscored the district's commitment to fostering excellence in both academic and extracurricular activities, celebrating the hard work and dedication of students and educators alike.
