Planning Commission approves new 109 room hotel at Legends Sparks Marina

The Sparks Planning Commission has approved plans for a new hotel development at the Legends at Sparks Marina, a decision that promises to enhance local hospitality options. The proposed structure will be a 66,700 square foot, four-story hotel featuring 109 rooms, designed to accommodate the Home2 Suites by Hilton brand, known for its extended stay format with in-room kitchens.

During the meeting on April 17, 2025, city planners presented the architectural designs, which incorporate elements consistent with the surrounding shopping center. The building will feature red brick and stucco in earth tones, aligning with the aesthetic standards set forth in the Legends development handbook. The design aims to create visual cohesion while maintaining individual character, a key consideration for the commission.

The hotel’s location at 1050 Shoals Drive is strategically positioned near existing hotels and retail spaces, enhancing the area's appeal to visitors and residents alike. The commission noted that the architectural elevations met the required standards, leading to a unanimous vote in favor of the project.

In addition to the hotel approval, the meeting included discussions on landscaping plans, which, while not part of the architectural review, were shown to complement the building's design.
