Cookeville City Council has taken significant steps to enhance recreational facilities at Cane Creek Park, approving the purchase of a custom-designed splash pad and a new playground during their recent meeting on April 3, 2025.
The council unanimously approved a proposal for a splash pad, which will be developed by Recreational Concepts through a cooperative purchasing contract. The splash pad, designed to include various interactive water features and shade structures, will cost approximately $1.34 million, including installation. This facility aims to provide a fun and safe environment for children, featuring areas suitable for different age groups and utilizing recirculated, treated water to minimize waste. The splash pad is expected to be a popular attraction during the summer months, enhancing the park's appeal.

This project, also contracted through Recreational Concepts, includes the installation of play equipment and safety surfacing, totaling around $444,194. The playground will feature equipment suitable for children aged 2 to 12, with a focus on safety and maintenance efficiency. The use of Foreverlawn, an artificial grass surface, is anticipated to reduce maintenance costs compared to traditional materials like mulch or sand.
Both projects reflect the city’s commitment to improving community amenities and providing safe, engaging spaces for families. The council's decisions are expected to foster increased recreational opportunities for residents and visitors alike, contributing to the overall quality of life in Cookeville. As these developments progress, the community can look forward to enjoying enhanced outdoor experiences at Cane Creek Park.
