Ellettsville School Board approves swim club facility use agreement

The Richland Bean Blossom School Board convened on April 15, 2025, to discuss several key initiatives aimed at enhancing student opportunities and managing district resources effectively.

One of the primary topics was the approval of a facility use agreement for a new swim club, proposed by coach Chris Straw. The swim club aims to provide local students with year-round training opportunities, filling a gap left by the closure of the Aegon Swim Club. The agreement allows the for-profit swim club to utilize school facilities while ensuring that a portion of the rental fees will be donated back to the school’s swim program. This arrangement is designed to benefit students directly, as the club will primarily serve Richland Bean Blossom students. The board expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, highlighting its potential to foster athletic development in the community.

Additionally, the board discussed the surplus of two older buses, which are no longer needed due to the acquisition of newer models. The buses, one from 2006 and another from 2002, will be auctioned off in June to maximize returns for the district.
