During the recent Silver Falls School District Board meeting on April 14, 2025, student representatives from Silverton High School shared heartfelt gratitude and exciting updates that highlight the school community's resilience and achievements.
Mariah Lacker and Kai Holly, the Associated Student Body representatives, opened the meeting by thanking first responders and school staff for their support during a recent incident at the school. They expressed appreciation for the community's solidarity and announced upcoming events, including the "Best Fox Ever" pageant on April 19, where students will showcase their talents.

They celebrated the success of the school's music programs, with the concert choir preparing for a state competition and band members participating in recent competitions.
In addition to performing arts, the meeting featured updates from the Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter, which recently excelled at the state convention. FFA President Logan Grama reported impressive placements in various competitions, including a first-place finish in the welding and fabrication category at SkillsUSA, which will advance to national competition in Atlanta.
Health occupations students also made their mark, with senior Kasiah Hart announcing that their team won first place in the medical terminology competition at SkillsUSA. This program prepares students for careers in healthcare through hands-on experiences in local clinical settings.
The meeting underscored the importance of career and technical education (CTE) programs at Silverton High School, which equip students with practical skills and opportunities for future employment. Nathaniel Lawton, a junior in the protective service program, shared his success in the state firefighting skills contest, emphasizing how CTE classes have opened doors for his career aspirations.
As the school year progresses, Silverton High School continues to foster a spirit of community and achievement, with students actively participating in various extracurricular activities and competitions. The board meeting served as a reminder of the vital role that education and community support play in shaping the future of local students.
