Minnesota allocates $779M for outdoor heritage clean water parks arts projects

The Parks and Trails Fund, receiving $130 million, continues a long-standing funding split of 40% for state parks, 40% for metropolitan parks, and 20% for Greater Minnesota parks and trails. Notably, this year includes a unique partnership initiative with Wilderness Inquiry, which will receive $500,000 to enhance outdoor accessibility.

The Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund will see an investment of $180 million, with a significant portion directed towards competitive grant programs rather than direct appropriations to individual organizations. This approach aims to foster a diverse range of artistic projects throughout all 87 counties in Minnesota.

Committee members expressed strong support for the bill, highlighting its responsible allocation of taxpayer dollars and the positive impact it will have on the state's natural and cultural resources. Chair Vang emphasized the importance of these funds in addressing pressing environmental issues and enhancing community resources.
