Prospect Park Alliance unveils new signage system for Vale area restoration

Brooklyn's Prospect Park is set to undergo a significant transformation with the introduction of a new signage system aimed at enhancing accessibility and visitor experience. During the recent Brooklyn Borough Board meeting, the Prospect Park Alliance presented plans for a comprehensive signage overhaul that will begin this year, coinciding with ongoing construction in the Vale area of the park.

The new signage initiative is designed to create a more welcoming environment for all park-goers. It will feature a variety of signs, including maps, directional arrows, stewardship signs, interpretive displays, and placemaking banners. These elements are intended to improve navigation and provide essential information about park rules and local ecology.

The existing signage in Prospect Park has been criticized for its lack of uniformity and clarity, making it difficult for visitors to use effectively. Temporary event information will be displayed on thinner plastic.
