Glens Falls City Council approves Memorial Day parade and multiple community events

The City of Glens Falls is set to host a series of community events this spring and summer, following key approvals made during the Board of Public Safety meeting on April 9, 2025. Among the most significant resolutions passed was the approval for the Zonta Club of Glens Falls Annual Craft Fair, scheduled for May 10-11, 2025. This event will necessitate road closures on Maple Street and partial closures on Bay Street to facilitate vendor activities.

Additionally, the board approved the annual Memorial Day parade and remembrance ceremony, which will take place on May 26, 2025. This city-hosted event will commence at 10 AM and will include a ceremony at the Veterans Memorial, ensuring that the community honors its veterans appropriately.

Another notable resolution was for the fifth annual Veterans and First Responders Suicide Awareness and Prevention Walk, set for September 10, 2025. This event aims to raise awareness and will involve a designated route around City Park, with specific parking arrangements for participants.

The board also retroactively approved the Glens Falls School District Champions Parade, which celebrated the district's athletic achievements on March 30, 2025. This event showcased community spirit and support for local students.

In addition to these events, the board addressed several block parties, including the Coolidge Avenue block party on May 26 and a family block party on July 4, both of which will require road closures and coordination with emergency services.
