St Albans hosts Cinco de Mayo pub crawl to benefit Alzheimer's Association

As summer approaches, St. Albans is gearing up for an exciting lineup of community events, highlighted by a special pub crawl on May 2 to benefit the Alzheimer's Association West Virginia chapter. Mayor Scott James emphasized the importance of this event, sharing a personal connection as his mother passed away from Alzheimer's. "95 to 98 percent of the people out there have been touched by Alzheimer's in some way," he noted, underscoring the need for community support in raising funds for research and awareness.

The pub crawl, which will take place on Main Street from 6 PM to 11 PM, is part of a series of events aimed at fostering community spirit and supporting good causes. St. Albans is recognized as a dementia-friendly city, a designation that promotes awareness and education about Alzheimer's and dementia, making local businesses more accommodating for those affected.

In addition to the pub crawl, the city is also launching "Movies on Main," a new outdoor movie series in partnership with WQBE. Set to kick off on May 24, the series will feature family-friendly films and live music, creating a vibrant atmosphere on Old Main. Mayor James encouraged residents to bring their own chairs and enjoy the festivities, which aim to attract more visitors to the area and support local businesses.
