Adrian Stroud honored with Power Wheel Award at Muscogee County School District

The Muscogee County School District recognized outstanding contributions to education during its April 21, 2025, meeting, highlighting the dedication of staff members who significantly impact their schools and students.

Adrian Stroud, a clerk at Rigdon Road Elementary School, received the Power Wheel Award for her exemplary service. Stroud is praised for her positive attitude, exceptional customer service, and willingness to assist wherever needed. Her proactive approach includes conducting daily building walkthroughs to ensure classrooms are ready for substitutes and addressing maintenance issues promptly. Principal Charmaine Derrick New commended Stroud for her commitment to the school community, stating that her efforts are vital to the school's daily operations.

The meeting also celebrated the top three teachers of the year, as recognized by the Muscogee Educational Excellence Foundation (MEAF). Aretha Hamilton, a sixth-grade science teacher at Double Churches Middle School, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to connect with her students on a personal level, emphasizing the importance of authenticity in education. CJ Repass, who leads the autism program at Jordan Vocational College and Career Academy, highlighted the need for recognition of students with autism, advocating for their strengths and talents. Amanda Zarate, a theater arts teacher at Wynton Arts Academy, spoke passionately about the role of the arts in education, stressing the importance of creativity and expression in fostering student confidence and resilience.

The meeting concluded with anticipation for the upcoming Teacher of the Year gala on May 1, where the district will honor these educators and announce the overall Teacher of the Year.
