Midland City Council approves $24M entertainment facility agreement with Synergy Entertainment Group

Midland City Council has taken significant steps to enhance local economic development and infrastructure during its recent meeting on April 22, 2025. A key highlight was the unanimous approval of a performance-based economic development agreement with Synergy 108 LLC, aimed at revitalizing a vacant property on Loop 250. This project, which includes a $24 million investment, will feature a new entertainment complex with a go-karting facility, movie theater, and arcade, catering to the growing demand for family-friendly activities in Midland.

The agreement stipulates that Synergy must meet specific performance metrics before receiving any rebates, ensuring that the city incurs no upfront costs. This initiative is expected to generate new sales and property tax revenues, benefiting not only the city but also surrounding businesses and residents. The facility is projected to attract both local families and regional visitors, enhancing Midland's appeal as a destination for entertainment.

In addition to the Synergy project, the council approved a $933,601 agreement with Beatonville Homes for the construction of critical roadway infrastructure in Northeast Midland. This development will support over 2,600 new single-family homes and improve traffic flow in the area by extending Todd Drive, creating essential north-south access. The partnership with Beatonville allows the city to share costs and expedite the construction process, addressing the growing need for infrastructure as Midland continues to expand.

Furthermore, the council discussed joining the Ports to Plains Alliance, which would provide Midland with a voice in advocating for the development of Interstate 27. This membership, costing approximately $80,100 annually, is seen as vital for securing funding and planning for future infrastructure improvements along this critical corridor.
