Miami County discusses $600K pipeline project for future corridor development

The existing guardrail is no longer functional due to settling issues that create a ramp effect, increasing the risk of vehicles going over it. The estimated cost for the guardrail project is around $229,000, which includes significant grading work to meet updated safety standards.

Commissioners expressed concerns about the frequency of accidents at the site and discussed potential funding sources for road safety improvements. Oler emphasized that the project has become more complex than initially anticipated, requiring extensive grading and new crash-worthy guardrail installations.

Additionally, the commission reviewed proposals for the rehabilitation of 220 Third Street and Metcalfe Road, which involves milling and resurfacing to address ongoing pavement issues. The intent is to prolong the lifespan of these roads until a more permanent solution can be implemented in the future.

Overall, the meeting highlighted Miami County's commitment to improving infrastructure and ensuring public safety through necessary upgrades and maintenance projects.
