The Heart of Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce recently hosted a Business Spotlight Series featuring the Arts Council of South Wood County, highlighting its rich history and community impact. The event, led by Stacy Keeve, included an interview with Sally Kisner, who detailed the council's mission and upcoming programs.
Established in January 1976 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the Arts Council was founded by community members Marie McIntosh and Don Knepper. Initially focused on music education, the council has expanded its mission to include a variety of entertainment options while maintaining an educational component through artist-in-residence programs for local students.
Kisner shared that the council aims to offer diverse programming each season, catering to various tastes with events ranging from country music to comedy and musical theater. The upcoming season will include a pre-season show in August, featuring food trucks and activities for families.
While specific details about the new season's lineup remain under wraps, Kisner encouraged community members to stay updated through the council's website and upcoming mailings.
In addition to the Arts Council's initiatives, Keeve reminded attendees of upcoming Chamber events, including a networking night on April 21 and a safety professionals exchange on April 30 at Mid State Technical College.
The meeting underscored the importance of community support and collaboration, with Kisner expressing her appreciation for the strong bonds within the local area. The Arts Council continues to play a vital role in enriching the cultural landscape of South Wood County.
