Wilson Hall boys cross country team honored in South Carolina State House

The South Carolina House of Representatives celebrated notable achievements and honored various community members during its meeting on April 23, 2025. The session began with heartfelt introductions, highlighting the accomplishments of local groups and individuals who have made significant contributions to the state.

One of the standout moments came when Representative Smith introduced the Wilson Hall boys cross country team, who recently clinched the 2024 Schizo Fore state championship. The team, recognized for their discipline and teamwork, edged out competitors by just one point. Coach Reed Swartz and the athletes were commended for their hard work, with special recognition given to Calder Williamson for his impressive individual performance.

The meeting also acknowledged the Chi HFI sorority, which recently held its 71st Southeastern Regional Conference in Hilton Head. Representative Williams praised the nurses in attendance, emphasizing their vital role in caring for the sick and their commitment to elevating the nursing profession across the nation.

Additionally, members of the South Carolina Asphalt Pavers Association were welcomed, highlighting their essential work in maintaining the state's roadways. The South Carolina Small Fruit Growers Association was also recognized for its significant economic contribution, generating over $31 million in revenue through the production of various berries.
