Chesterfield Police Activity League hosts youth football camp with NFL stars

Chesterfield County's Police Department showcased impressive results from a recent 46-day initiative aimed at enhancing public safety during the summer months. The operation, which involved reallocating resources from various patrol services, led to the seizure of over 30 firearms, assistance with more than 104 calls for service, and the execution of 109 warrants. The team, known as CAS, operated covertly and flexibly in the field, effectively mitigating several ongoing incidents.

In addition to law enforcement efforts, the Chesterfield County Police Activities League (PAL) is making strides in community engagement. The league recently hosted its inaugural football camp, featuring former NFL player Wiley Raynor and other athletes who provided coaching and mentorship to local youth. This initiative aims to foster positive relationships between young people and law enforcement, creating memorable experiences that connect the community.

However, the meeting also highlighted a concerning rise in pedestrian fatalities, with a notable spike of four deaths in September alone. This alarming trend prompted discussions among officials on strategies to improve pedestrian safety and prevent future tragedies. The Police Department is committed to addressing these issues and enhancing safety measures in the community.
