In addition to flood protection, the council addressed ongoing public works efforts, including preventative maintenance to clear debris from catch basins, which is essential for maintaining effective drainage systems. The introduction of a new call center system for the Waterworks Department aims to improve customer service, boasting a connection rate of over 98% for incoming calls.
The meeting also celebrated the completion of the first phase of the Paul Mallard revitalization project, which has enhanced the area with new sidewalks, drainage, and utility lines, funded largely through federal grants. The second phase of this project is currently in the engineering stage, with plans to continue improving the infrastructure along the corridor.
As these projects progress, the council remains committed to addressing the needs of St. Charles Parish residents, ensuring that infrastructure improvements align with community goals for safety and accessibility.
