Botetourt County Board honors Ken McFadden on his new role in Allegheny County

The Botetourt County Board of Supervisors convened on April 22, 2025, to discuss various personnel updates and recognize significant contributions from county staff. The meeting began with introductions of new team members, highlighting their qualifications and roles within the county.

Tom Edwards was introduced as the new Director of Maintenance, bringing over 30 years of experience in facilities management, including a notable tenure with Fauquier County Public Schools. He officially started on April 7, 2025. Cody Ryan, a journeyman electrician who began work on March 17, 2025, was also welcomed. Ryan is currently pursuing his master electrician certification and is the first journeyman electrician on staff. Additionally, John Kravitz, who has a decade of experience in landscaping and maintenance, joined the team as a grounds technician on March 10, 2025.

The board also expressed gratitude towards Blake Winan, who has served as interim director during a transitional period and was recently promoted to grounds supervisor. Winan's leadership was acknowledged for maintaining departmental stability during this time.

A resolution was read, detailing McFadden's contributions to Botetourt County, including the successful attraction of seven companies that resulted in approximately 1,000 new jobs and significant capital investment. The board unanimously approved the resolution, expressing both appreciation for McFadden's work and sadness at his departure.
