Washington City Council awards $1.4M water line project to Feller Enterprises

Washington City Council has awarded a significant contract for the Solente water transmission line reroute to Feller Enterprises, totaling $1,396,778.45. This decision, made during the council's regular meeting on April 23, 2025, marks a crucial step in enhancing the city's water infrastructure.

Public Works Assistant Director Lester Dalton presented the bid, highlighting a competitive bidding environment with nine submissions. The two lowest bids were remarkably close, within just 2% of each other. Dalton expressed confidence in Feller Enterprises, citing their past performance and qualifications for the project.

"This project is essential for replacing one of our major transmission facilities, ensuring a more efficient system for the future," Dalton stated. He also noted that the project would include improvements related to storm drain crossings, with the developer set to reimburse the city approximately $137,200 for these additional costs.

The overall project cost is projected to reach around $2.58 million, factoring in materials, engineering, and inspection services. The council's unanimous approval, with one member abstaining, underscores the importance of this infrastructure upgrade for the community.

In addition to the water line discussion, the council briefly addressed a zoning change proposal from R-110 to R-18 for a development at 4200 South and Crimson Cliffs Way, indicating ongoing efforts to manage growth and development in the area. The council's decisions reflect a proactive approach to infrastructure and community planning, aiming to meet the needs of Washington City's residents.
