Dearborn Public Schools honors students and staff during recognition ceremony

The Dearborn Public Schools Board of Education convened on April 14, 2025, to recognize outstanding achievements among students and staff, discuss donations, and approve previous meeting minutes.

During the meeting, student athletes from various middle schools were acknowledged for their accomplishments at a recent Parks and Recreation event. Notable mentions included Leila Hamadeh and Mohammed Shamoud from Bryant, Adeola Musa and Hadir Elijabenadi from Lori, and several others from schools across the district.

The board also celebrated the contributions of educators and staff. Nicole Bush, a teacher at Henry Ford Elementary with 28 years of service, was recognized for her dedication to student education. Additionally, John Disney, a custodian at McCullough Eunice, was honored for his commitment to maintaining school facilities. Principal Nicole Rayback Casale from Woodworth Middle School was named Administrator of the Month for her leadership and support of the school community.

The meeting highlighted significant donations to the district, including $500 for Whitmore Bowles Elementary for outdoor classroom development and $21,000 from No Kid Hungry for a multifunctional oven to enhance student meal options. Other contributions included funds for field trips, educational resources, and student incentives.

The board approved the minutes from previous meetings and moved forward with discussions on union leadership commentary, ensuring a comprehensive approach to ongoing educational matters. The meeting underscored the district's commitment to recognizing excellence and fostering a supportive learning environment for students and staff alike.
