City Council funds indoor-outdoor event venue by Schulman Partners in Terrell

A bold new entertainment venue is set to transform Terrell, Texas, as city leaders greenlight plans for a dynamic indoor-outdoor event space. The City Council approved funding for the project during a recent meeting, which promises to host concerts, sports events, and dining experiences year-round.

The proposed venue, backed by Schulman Partners, aims to accommodate up to 2,000 attendees for concerts, with a restaurant offering scenic views of a nearby lake. This innovative space is designed to enhance community engagement and attract visitors, featuring a pavilion for events and a robust outdoor area.

City officials highlighted the financial framework supporting the project, which includes a mix of sales tax and mixed beverage tax revenues. The venue is expected to become a significant contributor to the city’s economy, with projections indicating it could be the largest mixed beverage tax payer in the area.

In addition to the venue, the city plans to erect a new billboard along I-20 to promote local businesses and city messages, marking a strategic move to enhance visibility and marketing efforts for the region.

The funding strategy involves utilizing the Hotel Event Center Fund, which has been accumulating resources for several years. This approach allows the city to support the venue while ensuring that a portion of the operational costs is covered through a 10-year agreement that allocates 75% of city maintenance and operation property taxes back to the investors.
