Liberty County announces early voting for local council and school board elections

Liberty County officials took a significant step towards child welfare during their regular meeting on April 22, 2025, by proclaiming support for the Bridgehaven Children's Advocacy Center. This proclamation highlights the community's commitment to creating safe and nurturing environments for children, addressing the alarming statistic that over 200,000 children in Texas face abuse or neglect each year.

The Bridgehaven representatives detailed their operations, which include a location in Dayton and a satellite office at the Chambers County Courthouse. They reported handling approximately 366 cases last year, emphasizing the importance of collaboration with law enforcement and other agencies to provide forensic interviews for children who have experienced trauma.

In addition to the proclamation, the meeting introduced Eric Zimmerman from the AgriLife Extension Office, who welcomed new team member Monica Riffowski. With a strong background in education and special needs counseling, Riffowski is set to enhance community health and educational programs in Liberty County.

The meeting also served as a reminder for residents about early voting, which began on the same day. Officials encouraged participation in the upcoming elections, which include city council and school board positions across several municipalities, as well as a bond election for Tarkington ISD.
