Clovis Senior Center reports 4688 meals served last month amid rising demand

The Clovis Senior Services Committee reported significant growth in meal services during their recent meeting, highlighting the increasing demand for community support among local seniors. The program, which serves lunch from 11 AM to 12:30 PM, has seen a notable rise in participation, with 280 individuals served last month alone.

In total, the facility provided 4,688 meals, including both congregate dining and homebound services. This impressive figure reflects the commitment to addressing the nutritional needs of seniors in the area. The suggested donation for those aged 60 and over is $4, while those under 60 can enjoy meals for a flat rate of $8.

The committee also noted that daily donations fluctuate, averaging between $250 and $300, depending on the menu offerings. This financial support is crucial as the non-metro area agency on aging works on the budget for the upcoming year, with hopes for further improvements in service.

In addition to meal services, the committee reported conducting 80 new assessments last quarter, bringing the total to 204 since the program's inception in December 2024. These assessments help identify new clients and ensure that more seniors can access the resources they need.
