Churchill County High School celebrates achievements in academics and esports

In a vibrant Zoom meeting filled with celebration and pride, the Churchill County School District recognized the remarkable achievements of its students in both academic and esports competitions. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as the board acknowledged the hard work and dedication of young scholars and gamers alike.

The meeting kicked off with a tribute to the Academic Olympics team from Churchill County High School, who secured third place in a recent competition. Coach enthusiasm filled the virtual room as he recounted the team's journey over the past three years. From their initial goal of winning just one round to now competing fiercely against rivals, the team's growth was evident. "We made them work hard," he proudly stated, highlighting the students' determination and teamwork.

Transitioning from academics to esports, the board celebrated the achievements of the school's esports team, which clinched third place at the University of Reno Esports Invitational. Coach Jay Marvel shared his pride in the team's journey, recalling the rigorous tryouts and the camaraderie that developed among the players. Awards were presented for various categories, including a third-place win in public service announcements and a first-place victory in life support skills, celebrating the students' commitment to health and wellness.
