School District updates safety systems and construction projects for Career and Tech Building

The Lake Dallas Independent School District (ISD) Board Meeting on April 21, 2025, focused on significant updates regarding safety measures and ongoing construction projects within the district.

Chief Springer presented enhancements to the district's safety protocols, including the installation of panic buttons, strobe lights, and audio alerts designed to assist individuals with disabilities during emergencies. These systems will be color-coordinated with the standard response protocol already in use, ensuring a seamless integration into existing safety practices. Additionally, the district plans to unify its access control systems by updating card readers across all campuses, which will streamline management and replace outdated technology.

Following the safety update, Mr. Wes Eversole, the construction project specialist, provided an overview of ongoing construction efforts. He confirmed that the expansion of the band hall and renovations to the performance hall and high school classrooms are on track for completion by July. The district plans to begin moving furniture on the last day of school, with construction set to commence on Memorial Day. Eversole showcased images of the new Career and Tech Building, highlighting various spaces under renovation, including classrooms for law and fire training, as well as a new athletic training area.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to continue updating the community on these projects, emphasizing the district's focus on enhancing both safety and educational facilities for students.
