Cass County Commission approves technology contracts and road improvement resolutions

Cass County officials made significant strides in infrastructure and public safety during their recent commission meeting on April 23, 2025. The commission approved several key resolutions aimed at enhancing community services and facilities.

One of the most impactful decisions was the approval of Resolution 25-34, which allows the Cass County Sheriff's Office to proceed with the procurement of technology and facilities security services at the Cass County Justice Center. This resolution follows a review of vendor prequalifications, with the sheriff's office confirming that only two out of five companies met the necessary criteria. The upgrades are essential for replacing outdated security systems that manage access control, intercoms, and surveillance cameras throughout the facility.

In addition to public safety improvements, the commission awarded contracts for road enhancements. Resolution 25-35 approved a contract with Newland Pagan Company for road improvements on 30 Seventh Street and Jefferson Parkway, with the project budget set at $11,058,000. Meanwhile, Resolution 25-36 awarded Vance Brothers LLC a contract for improvements on School Road and Windland Drive, as they were the sole bidder for this project.

The meeting also saw the approval of a new main services agreement with LaMann Incorporated for IT support, which will replace the existing contract with Carbonite. This new agreement includes 24/7 server monitoring and ensures that security updates are consistently applied.

Lastly, the commission passed Ordinance 25-44, which updates the county code regarding truck routes, further enhancing transportation regulations within the county.

These decisions reflect the commission's commitment to improving public safety and infrastructure, ensuring that Cass County continues to meet the needs of its residents effectively.
