Great Crossing High School Warhawks celebrate first KHSAA state championship victory

In a heartfelt recognition during the Scott County Fiscal Court meeting on April 24, 2025, the Great Crossing High School Warhawks boys basketball team was honored for their remarkable achievement in winning the KHSAA Sweet 16 state championship. The team, which finished the season with an impressive record of 35 wins and 4 losses, made history by securing the first state championship in the school's six-year basketball program.

Judge Executive Joe Pat Covington led the tribute, expressing pride in the team's dedication and teamwork. Senior Malachi Moreno was celebrated as Kentucky's Mr. Basketball and a McDonald's All-American, while teammates Vince Dawson III and Gage Richardson earned spots on the Sweet 16 All-Tournament team.
