City Council approves Miles Romney home as local landmark and In-N-Out site plan

The St. George City Council made a significant move during their April 24 meeting, approving the request to designate the historic Miles Romney home as a local landmark site. This decision highlights the city's commitment to preserving its cultural heritage. The motion was made by Councilmember Danielle and seconded by Michelle, receiving unanimous support from the council.

In addition to the landmark designation, the council also discussed a new development proposal for the Veil Interchange area. The plan involves amending the PDC zone on approximately 2.01 acres located southeast of Pioneer Road, where a new In-N-Out Burger is set to be built. The site, which is adjacent to the soon-to-open Del Taco, is designed to accommodate high customer traffic, featuring ample parking and queuing spaces to ensure smooth operations.

The proposed site plan includes a well-thought-out layout, with over 30 parking spaces and a double-stacking queuing system to manage the expected influx of customers. This development aligns with the city’s land use map, which designates the area for commercial use, and is part of the broader Yadkinville plan.

These decisions reflect St. George's ongoing efforts to balance growth and development with the preservation of its historical sites, setting the stage for a vibrant community that honors its past while looking to the future.
