Austin ISD outlines consolidation roadmap and special education project management plans

Austin Independent School District (AISD) is taking significant steps towards enhancing educational stability and quality through a comprehensive consolidation process. During the Board Regular Voting Meeting on April 24, 2025, Superintendent Segura outlined a strategic roadmap aimed at achieving a multi-year balanced budget while prioritizing the educational experience for students.

The consolidation initiative is set to culminate in November 2025, with a focus on ensuring that any changes to attendance boundaries or student movements are communicated well in advance. This proactive approach aims to provide families with clarity before major school breaks, allowing for a smooth transition into the 2026 school year.

Key to this process is the establishment of an internal steering committee, which will oversee the deployment of resources and support staff throughout the project. Dr. Rachel French has been appointed as the project manager for the special education platform turnover, ensuring that all milestones are met with high-quality deliverables.

The consolidation process will unfold in three phases: data collection, analysis, and finalization. The district is currently in the project launch phase, gathering data and building protocols to support the initiative.
