Springfield Bands Together concert features alumni and multiple school bands

Springfield School District is gearing up for an exciting community event this Sunday, as the district hosts "Springfield Bands Together," a vertical concert showcasing the talents of students and alumni across all grade levels. The concert will feature performances from the fourth through eighth-grade bands, the high school band, and a special alumni band directed by former teacher Kevin Cooper. This event is set to take place at 2:00 PM in the stadium and is free and open to the public.

The concert aims to celebrate the district's robust music program, which has a rich history dating back to the early 1960s when it was known as the dance band. This year, the alumni band will include 55 former students, with performances spanning from the class of 1975 to more recent graduates. Notably, current staff members, including teachers Sarah D'Amato and John Gillet Walker, will also participate, adding a personal touch to the event.

In addition to the performances, the concert will serve as a fundraising opportunity to support the music program.
