Portsmouth schools Churchland Academy and Middle School earn RAMP counseling designation

The Portsmouth City Public School Board meeting on April 24, 2025, celebrated significant achievements in school counseling programs, particularly recognizing two local schools for their exceptional work.

During the meeting, it was announced that Churchland Academy and Churchland Middle School have both earned the Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) status. This prestigious designation is awarded to schools that align their counseling programs with the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) national model, demonstrating a commitment to fostering academic achievement, career readiness, and social-emotional growth for all students.

Out of 190 schools nationwide that received RAMP status this year, only 14 are located in Virginia, highlighting the accomplishment of these Portsmouth schools. Achieving RAMP status is a rigorous process that spans an entire year, requiring thorough reviews, data collection, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
