Lisle High School Science Olympiad team wins state championship recognition

The Village of Lisle celebrated significant achievements and community initiatives during its regular board meeting on April 21, 2025. The meeting opened with a heartfelt proclamation honoring the Lisle High School Science Olympiad team for their remarkable first-place victory at the state tournament held at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Mayor Christopher R. Pisac presented the proclamation, recognizing the team's hard work and dedication, which included competing in six local and regional competitions since December 2024. The team excelled, medaling in 10 out of 23 events and finishing with an impressive score that placed them well ahead of the second-place team.

Team members and their supporters gathered to celebrate this achievement, with the team captain expressing gratitude for the recognition and highlighting the commitment of all participants. This victory not only showcases the students' academic prowess but also fosters community pride and encourages future participation in science and technology.

In addition to the celebration of academic excellence, the board proclaimed April 25, 2025, as Arbor Day in Lisle. This initiative aims to promote environmental stewardship and the importance of trees in sustaining life. The village will celebrate by distributing tree saplings to residents at Prairie Walk Pond and planting a Bloodgood Japanese maple as the official Arbor Day tree. Lisle has been recognized as a Tree City USA for 33 consecutive years, reflecting its commitment to maintaining a sustainable community forestry program.

The meeting also included a service recognition for Trustee Dan Greco, who has contributed significantly to the village through various roles, including his work on the technology commission and efforts to enhance local infrastructure and economic growth. His dedication to property tax relief and sales tax growth opportunities has positively impacted the community.
